Strangers No More
Student members of the GVSU Future Alumni Association hosted a dinner event November 4 at the Alumni House & Visitor Center. "Dinner with Seven Strangers - So As Lakers We Are No Longer Strangers" gave students the chance to share a meal and network with alumni and faculty working within their major. FAA planned the gathering to begin forging critical personal and professional connections with fellow Lakers. View photos.
Alumni Volunteers Provide Career Guidance to Students
19 alumni professionals returned to campus November 4 to provide guidance and support to current GVSU students at the annual Academic Major Fair. The fair provided an avenue for students who have not yet decided upon a major or are contemplating a major change to speak with individuals about their future. Each GVSU major was represented at the event. Alumni were able to share first-hand information about job duties, employment prospects, and how to best prepare for a career path. The event also provided an excellent opportunity for graduates to reconnect with former professors and network with fellow alumni. Young Alumni Council Hosts NovemBEERFest

Grand Valley Has a New Image Campaign
West Michigan, Detroit, and Chicago are getting a new look at Grand Valley through an image campaign that began October 5. Because of the increasingly competitive higher education market in West Michigan and a decreasing college-age population in Michigan as a whole, Grand Valley is touting the value of our rich educational experience with an integration of TV, radio, bus, billboard, print, and online ads. These are all good for awareness but research tells us that the most trusted source of information is word-of-mouth. Check out how you can be a GRAND ambassador for GVSU and give feedback on the campaign: http://www.gvsu.edu/identity/index.cfm?id=83719382-BBA2-9A63-35B2472F5AE149C0
